Cabin Raising at David Crockett Birthplace State Park 3/25/17 Day 2
We just got back from shooting for three straight days at David Crockett Birthplace State Park. Reenactors & craftsmen donned their 18th century attire, picked up their 18th century tools and, under the guidance of Master Cabin Builder and historical consultant Jim Wilson, built an 18th century cabin!
Over 40 volunteers from North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, Missouri, and California took part in the event. We were there to document the event, but we couldn’t help but be moved by the spirit of community that filled everyone with a sense of purpose, adventure and living history! As an example of how infectious it was, one gentlemen stopped by for a few minutes just to take some photos…and he stayed for all three days just to help with the cabin building!
We’d like to thank all of the volunteers for putting up with us and our cameras, and a big THANKS to Jackie Fischer & Jeff Wells with TN State Parks for their generous hospitality and facilitation!
